Confidence with public speaking is an essential skill for all students. Institute for Excellence in Writing’s Speech Boot Camp is a fast-paced, powerful public speaking course that assumes no previous experience.
The class will present important concepts for organizing and presenting a speech, afford multiple opportunities for practice, and teach students how to gently evaluate and encourage each other.
Students will have the opportunity to view DVDs that present example speeches by students, both experienced and novice.
Three specific speech models will be covered throughout the semester: narrative, descriptive, and persuasive, and the students will also get the opportunity to practice impromptu speaking.
